I've read through a lot of posts on this topic and it seems there are many different opinions. My dealer tells me they use a product called Star tron. A mechanic I know swears by Sea foam. I know sea foam isn't a fuel stabilizer but that's all he (mechanic) uses during the season. I see on the Sea foam site the stuff should only be used every couple months if you're using the gas regularly. Then I've read about Ring Free, does this work like Sea Foam? should I be combining star tron & Sea foam together? Any advice is appreciated!

I am not an expert on the different brands. Hopefully someone else can give you more scientific or comparison details. I have always been suggested to use Marine Sta-bil. I use it with every fill up. So, another option to look into.

A good argument can be made that any of these cleaners and stabilizers are nothing more than modern snake oil and you will be fine without using any of them - while others will swear by them. IMO if your engines see some WOT - there's your free cleaning job, and if you use good fuel, keep it nearly full while sitting (and doesn't sit for over a year) there's your free stabilizer!

I use the Star Tron when I'm using the boat and marine Stabil when I know I'm not going to be running her for a couple weeks.

We have members here who swear by any one or combination of the products you mentioned. For me, I've been using this combo since I got the boat and it's cheap and easy enough to keep using them, but I don't have any proof that it's actually doing anything.

Thanks guys! I just want to do what's best for these engines and have em last as long as I can without any problems. I think I'll use Sea foam a few times a season and star tron every fill up unless I get different info.

I also use star tron. And they also have another product made by them that helps clean your system

Ring free - always, Marine Stabil always in slow season.

Marine sta-bil when winterized. Gas doesn't sit in summer.

I use Marine Stabil consistently. Out here in California, all we have is ethanol fuel and since my boat is in the lake about 10 weeks per year, I can only fill up on the lake. I figure adding a little stabil to each tank will just keep the evil water away...
