Last weekend the ratchet direction knob fell off my Fulton F2 winch while retrieving. It seems the screw that holds it in place had worked itself loose. Once it hit the water it must have grew fins because it was gone.

I made up a makeshift knob with a 10-24 machine screw, wing nut, and fender washer. It worked, but was less than ideal.

Tuesday I called the number on the Fulton website and talked to a guy named Bill in the tech assistance department. He said I could buy a rebuild kit for the ratchet mechanism, but if it was just the knob and screw, he probably had one laying around. He shipped me a replacement knob at no charge!

If anyone has this winch, I recommend pulling that screw and putting some Loctite on it. If you lose it call Bill at Fulton. ;)

Message understood. Will do tomorrow. Love that winch.
