Trying to splice the wires for the install for this radio, but it came with a brown wire that my stock doesn’t have. Owners manual states that this is the Mute wire and activates when connected to ground. Does that mean I splice it into my ground (black) wire or somewhere else so that the radio connects it to ground when prompted? image.jpgimage.jpg

No if you ground that wire it will always be on mute. Unless you have something that connects a ground to mute the stereo, then it’s likely not needed. I’d tape or cap it off if you don’t have a need for it. I guess you could connect it to a remote switch if you needed to mute the stereo from somewhere other than the helm?

No it is used by other devices to mute the radio. Like GPS notification, when going in reverse, or if a alarm was going off. It would mute the radio.

Exactly, use only If you have a device that you want to be able to MUTE the radio. I taped mine up and left it alone.
