Does anyone have any experience using the galvanized chains from Lowes and/or Home Depot, such as the Blue Hawk and/or Campbell brands? I used some before on a trailer and it rusted within a year just being outside in the rain, no salt water. I'm pretty sure it was galvanized but not 100% sure. I am planning on using my boat in salt water and wondering if anyone has used it and had it last, or if it rusted out really quick. It is cheaper than the ones on the boat website stores, but I do believe in the old saying "you get what you pay for". I bought a Mantus 13 lb galvanized and was thinking a 10' section but not sure whether to go with 5/16" or 3/8", and then these local store chains or online boat store. Advice/experience?

I bought a 4' chain from Walmart. With the Mantus' ability to catch, I've had zero issues.

I have the store brand (think it was blue hawk) galvanized chain from Lowe’s securing my jet skis to the dock. No issues going on a couple years.

Exclusively in sea water

I have used galvanized from the store and it went several years with anchor duty, after year 4 or so rust was visible. We have brackish water and I did not rinse every outing.

for $50 I bought stainless anchor chain from Amazon, and I don't worry about it anymore. Looks like a Jewel.
