For those that garage their boats, what is you after use procedure? Do you pull all wet gear out? Do you open all benches to air out? Do you use dry packs in storage areas et cetera?

Thanks for your input.

Yes, I spread everything out and leave the hatches open for a day or two to let it dry before I put the cover back on to keep dust & bugs out.
I don’t need dry packs where I’m at.

i do pull out the tubes or fatsacs from surfing and docking lines that are wet and keep all the doors open and lift benches to permit air circulation

I remove everything that’s wet and leave all hatches open. Where I live is super humid and I use both my boats a lot so last summer I noticed stuff wasn’t drying between uses so we also now run a big dehumidifier in the garage at all times. Also I plug in a smart battery charger so the batteries are always ready.

When we had our 19' in the garage, a buddy suggested leaving the attic door open to help with the humidity as well. If applicable to you, it may help.

I back it in, raise the tower back up, then use the tower like a clothes line. Dock lines, vests, rags, etc all get hung all over the dang tower. Then all the htaches are opened and seats placed to allow airflow. I then run a box fan in the center of the boat to promote airflow. I'll be installing ceiling fans in the garage soon to help with that and keep it cooler in there in general.

In the summer, the cover never goes back on the boat between weekends. Usually we're ready to head back out before I can get everything cleaned up and put away, so I'm "putting away" at the same time I'm prepping to leave for the next trip. Honestly, aside from winter storage, the cover is RARELY on the boat in the garage.

Still thinking about cover use (have premium mooring cover). we can get to the river in about 45 minutes so probably no cover. More often the not we will be on the lake 90 minute drive probably with cover.

If I tow any further than around the block, then I put the cover on.

I towed my last boat without a cover, and lost crap, or had bird poo, or debris in the boat all the time. Travelling with the cover is SOOOO much easier IMO. Takes just a few minutes to toss it on and cinch it down. Aside from moving around in the driveway/campsite/etc if the boats moving on the trailer it most likely has the cover on.

I have used this dehumidifier since 2016! Works great... absolutely no mildew problems. Cover on, storage open.
