does anyone know which gas spring size I shoulder order for the clean out cover support strut? I ordered one that is both too long and way too powerful, making it a piece of junk. Any advice greatly appreciated!!

I'm pretty sure it is a 17" and 40 lbs but I will verify that we I get home tonight. I bought a 15" / 40 lbs at an autoparts store at the end of past boating season to get by but plan on buy a stainless steel one before this boating season.

yeah, I think I bought a 20" 150# by accident....it didn't work well.

My 15" 40 lbs works well but the hatch only opens about 80% which is good enough to get things in and out plus access the cleanout plugs.

They also make SS versions. The pic above is the original part that broke. I replaced it with the SS version. I don't have that number handy, but I can look if you're interested.

These are the part numbers I ordered for my 2008, ski locker, clean out tray, and secondly the rear seat section lift Signature part numbers SE172P-40 and SE150P-30 Shop around the prices vary a lot. I did not bother with SS with the rear seat lift as the originals still looked in good shape, but I thought while I am buying the other two I might as well buy to replacements as well.

Anyone have a clue how to remove the old and rusty support/strut from the clean-out hatch?

I have purchased a replacement OEM part, but kind of baffled how to remove the old strut.

Thanks in advance.

On the opposite side of the where the strut attaches to the pivot point there is a metal band that you need to stick a small screwdriver under, pry up, this will release the metal bands hold on the pivot point and now you can pull the strut off the pivot point. The bottom left picture in a circle show the side with the metal band and the top right picture in a circle shows the side that connects to the pivot point.
