The question often comes up about how much gas the Yamaha jet boats use. We've had our 2006 SX210 for seven years. It's been a great boat, almost maintenance free.
Today we took our fourth trip to the lake between fill-ups. We find boating is so much different than our eight years of PWC ownership. With PWCs the fun is in the riding. We'd hit the ocean, lake, or river and just drive at full throttle for hours at a time. One weekend on a club sponsored trip on the Sacramento River Delta I put 250 miles on my Honda ski. Our typical gas bill after each jet ski ride was between 10 and 12 gallons. But boating is so much different.
Today was a typical day for us at the lake. We launched, drove about 5 miles across the lake, anchored and enjoyed two hours of swimming while the younger kids played on the tow tube. Yesterday we towed my son on his kneeboard, then a very long tube ride for his girlfriend and another guy. Then we anchored and enjoyed the water. All tolled after four trips to the lake we only used 23 gallons of gas.
Our boat gets about 3mpg. We tend to cruise in the 30mph sweet spot for fuel consumption.
Just thought I'd pass this along. I was pleased that we only spent $56 on gas for four days on the lake.
We probably average more like 10 gallons a day normally. But these days have been hot and just swimming and jumping off the boat was a great way to cool off.
