I have been having an issue with my power point in the glove box of my 192. I could use it with 12v plug type devices like my little tube inflator, but I can't get it to work with a usb coverter to charge my cell phone. Being generally lazy, I swapped it out to a dual usb device rather than troubleshooting the issue. That device does not work either.

Ideas?

I had the same problem on mine. I actually blew the fuse on the first charger I tried so when I dug into it it looked like the polarity was backwards (negative was on the center pin and positive was on the outer ring) so I swapped the leads and no longer blew the fuse, but my phone would still not charge off of it. I can't remember if I tried it with the boat running or with the engine off. I am now questioning if the output voltage when the engine is on is to high or the frequency is too unstable so the phone is protecting itself by not allowing it to charge. I will try to remember to try it again tomorrow when I am out otherwise hopefully somebody else can lend us some insight.

Man I need a vacation...read this title and thought...why would you need to make a Power Point Presentation about a glove box! LOL

Actually, I was thinking the same thing when I saw it so I thought I better see what the big deal was. Glad I clicked because I know I'm not alone! And this might give me some more motivation to look into it again.

Thought the yamaha marketing department, or the poster had gone off the deep end,so I had to checkout the post.

It might be the latter if I don't figure this out. I've got a little jump starter that I take with me that I can use to recharge the battery, but since I haven't added a house battery I have to be careful not to discharge it. Really frustrating.

All kidding aside, I would suggest checking the voltage like some one else said already. If it's got the amperage, to run an inflator, the voltage may be off enough to mess with a "smart" charger

Mine failed in the first season with the boat and I could not trace the wires back through all of the different harnesses. I bought an off brand replacement and ran it direct to the battery. Works like a champ.

I hope mine works, have not tried yet, bought a Bluetooth adapter that plugs into the Aux Jack.

What you did might just be a hell of a lot easier and faster than trying to trouble shoot the problem. I might just give that a try.

I had this same problem with my car. The plug would power devices but not charge my phone so I bought a Aukey (that's the brand name) charger only $6. Cellphones are really fussy about Amps and since your plug was working with your air pump my guess is you're getting "juice" just not the right kind.

Aukey chargers have a computer chip inside they call "AIPower" that regulates the amperage. "The AIPower Technology:Detects the input current of the connected devices to maximize both compatibility and charging speed up to 2.4 amps each port or 4.8 amps overall.

It fixed my car problem now I won't buy any other kind of charger.

That is worth a try.
