We've booked our 1st weekend get away for the weekend of 8/13-8/15. We're staying at the Cape Ann Marina in Gloucester, Ma. Same place we're Wicked Tuna is filmed and a lot of whale watching boats leave from. Has anyone stayed there? We've heard the docks and Mile Marker One are pretty lively at night!?
Does anyone have any boat up sand bars, on the water bars we can dock up to, or beaches that we can visit? Open to pretty much anything that we can visit and have a good time at!
Thanks for any recommendations and happy boating to everyone!!

Wingaersheek Beach is great , back side of Cranes Beach and Cocktail Cove . I'll be out Sunday, black 272e.

Thanks, looks like it's easier to go up the Annisquam River than open water around Rockport?

Going up river is the way to go.

I thought I'd share some photos of our Gloucester trip! The Cape Ann Marina was very nice & super convenient to the river, harbor & open ocean! We were on B dock & everyone was super friendly & always willing to help.
The trip up the Annisquam River to get to the sand bar on Wingaersheek Beach takes about 35 minutes to do as it's a no wake zone the entire way, but it's a nice ride. The sand bar starts around 9 AM and doesn't start clearing out until 6 PM on a Saturday! The tide does change the beaching area quite a bit and while there's not a lot of chop a bow & stern anchor are usually used.
The weekend wasn't without its troubles but I'll add to the post about that over the weekend! In all a Gloucester was a great place to boat & hang out. We will definitely return!
