Good news is that this weekend my 2016 SX190 with just me and half a tank of gas went so fast the bimini top front clips both broke.....

OK so there was a head wind too.... :)

Seriously these clips are horrible. Does anyone know how well the mount where the clips connect to is reinforced? I will replace the clips with something much stronger of course, but am I endangering the gel coat and fiberglass if the clips hold and rip out the mount?

that sucks, on my bimini it says do not exceed 45mph, which isn't possible for me due to heat soak and a dirty hull.

they need to upgrade those clips....

That sux, they are not of the greatest manufacturing...
We rarely ride with our Bimini up and if we do it's kinda slow-ish due to the possibility of damage

One of the internal end eyes on our bimini broke up at Lake Powell, ordered an aftermarket replacement - they are crimped on, so it was a bitch to get the old out and the new one in to say the least. Luckily your hooks are an easy fix.

Those are the same clips that are on my '06 and they've held up fine. If I want to go fast or into a strong headwind I fold it back because it's really a big sail at that point.

The speed limit is 45 when new. I had a strap break @ 25. Now I keep it under 20 with the bimini up.
