gopro 5 black

Not selling mine, but I just bought one a few months back. Really like it. I noticed Amazon has them on sale right now for $249

It's a great little camera. $249 is a good price. Hero 6 doesn't seem to be worth the upgrade.

They have come down so much in price now since the release of the newest model I would just buy a new one. The gopro session is a fun little camera also for $149 probably could be found a little cheaper with some digging.

Do you need it for the crossing or for when you are in Bimini ?

The session series has been discontinued. There is a bit of remaining stock at retailers but once its gone well its gone. $179 right now on Amazon for a hero 5 session is a great deal for a 4k camera of its quality and features. Just grabbed one and going to mount it on the back bimini cross pole to capture tow sports.

FWIW I have tried the nopros (knock off go pros) in the past. Don’t waste your money on those as the fisheye effect is bad, picture quality is poor, and forget about it operating in high or low temps.

Also when buying accessories only true go pro brand, true ram mount brand, or billet aluminum generic ones are worth it. I have had lots of issues with nopro mounts.

If you don't need 4k you can still get the session 4 for $145 from walmart. The thing I love about the sessions is they turn off when not recording the battery life on a charge is awesome because of that. For the extra couple bucks I would still probably grab the 4k version

Did they ever fix the sound recording problems on the GoPro 5 with a firmware update or did they just wait to address it in the gp6? I had no idea the session was discontinued. I got my son a session 2 and it’s been great although I do wish it had an interchangeable battery. If I were to buy another GoPro tomorrow it would probably be a 4 Black or another session 2, neither has an lcd display which makes a big difference in battery life and I suspect the cost of both would only be about half the cost of a gp6.

I have an old gopro 2 and I have messed with it but the fisheye look is bad and the image quality is low.. Plus it will only record for 8 min and then it cuts off... So I never use it when we go out on the boat. Just looking for something I will use more. For us not versed in gopro stuff what is the difference in the hero and the session other than size?

Scratch that... Just watched the videos.. Inunderstanf the difference now.. On Amazon u can get the hero 5 with an extra battery and a 64 gig card for 280..

Go pro was quiet about streamlining a few weeks ago. Sad to say but they are having trouble. Their products are top notch and I don’t see them going anywhere but the cycle has turned from growth in the mass market back to core customer base for them.

Why not go with one of the cheap knock off 4k cameras? I have one and it works better then my go pro hero 3.

I been reveiwing cameras and very few people complain about the gopro quality... They are not the cheapest but they are not too bad I guess.. I like buying something that just works and will continue to work.

Someone bought me one of the knock offs for Christmas I have never even opened it yet but guess I need to try it. That stinks they are getting rid of the Session line I will probably buy another one today now knowing that. I have used several different gopro's for a while now but the session quickly became my favorite to use for its simplicity and extended battery time. I agree with @Ronnie I wish the had the ability to add another battery but to be honest I have never needed one on the session yet. I think they get a bad rap since they don't have the LCD screen but to be honest those of us who use these a lot would all tell you not to buy one with the lcd screen and if you do go ahead and 3-4 extra batteries up front if you plan to use it for any type of extended time.

I bought my son a gopro hero 5 and now the screen is black and he's only used it twice. Waiting to hear back from the company. Apparently this is a known problem with the hero 5.

Does the session connect to the app on your phone?

Honestly never tried it says on the site the session 4 and 5 work with the app. I'm not telling you to get a session over the 5 as the 5 has lots of different functions that maybe important to you that just are not important to me for my uses. Def do your research before pulling the trigger on one I just found the session more convenient for me most of the time. The only time I use a full size go pro any more is if it is a set up shot or video and I wan't to use my handheld gimbal for to get a clean shot or pan.

Honestly for the price difference I think the session will do everything or more than what I want... And what I want is to document our boat times with the kids while they are still here.. Yes our first bimini included in that but many other tines as well... Time moves fast.. In two years my son may be moved away in college... :(....

The session 2 connects (I assume the 1 as well) contexts to your smart phone via go pro apps. My son says it’s easier to connect with his session than with my gp4 silver. Other go apps let you edit and post immediately after recording the footage.

I didn’t know about an issue with the gp5 screens but recall a lot of complaints about muffled sound when the gp5 was released.

I bought the gp4 silver for the lcd screen but if I could do it over I would shoot for the gp4 black, no screen but longer battery life. The battery life on the session is about 2 hours when constantly recording video, which is plenty most of the time but not when I want to shoot time lapse video like sunrises, sets, etc. ther is an option to charge while it’s being used but that adds complexity.
