Are you talking about a puff of black exhaust? Did it subside or continue? I see you have a 2003 SR230. Was this recently purchased? My immediate suggestion would be spark plugs. New plugs will solve a multitude of engine issues. Regardless of what tha previous owner has said about oil & plug changes, I would do it myself to know what I've got. You also should check your air filters to make sure they are clean and have no oil on them. It's very common to overfill the oil which will blow all over the filters ruining them.

I had that happen once when the tide was very low and the water very muddy. Prop boats were turning up tons of mud all the way to the dock.

I checked the plugs today I just changed them about a month ago they all look good air filters looked good to . Only reason I saw it was the water was pooling up around the hose and there was a little bit of black smut I think I may be from some stuff I put in the gas to clean the fuel system .

The additive you mentioned is probably cleaning carbon deposits from the valves.

Yea that is kinda what I thought I put star tron ring free in the tank and I was thinking that may be what it was
