I have been trying to read all the threads and I am still stuck. Although on our second boat we have just started going beyond our home lake. At Christmad we were in the Keys and my phone overheated 20 min out. Heres my question...
I dont plan on fishing. Only wanted depth and gps. I even thing i can forgo depth with a good as my only real necessity for depth was for anchoring and finding a place to swim where my wife's feet don't hit the bottom of the lake. We go to the Keys each christmas and have been going on various parts of the inner coastal.
I have been looking at the vertical GPS units as the size seems fine for what i am doing. The issue i a having is the maps. I dont want to pay for inland and coastal maps and really cant tell if any one map will cover us where we go. Any thoughts?
The other thought was going with a tablet but i have just started looking at and rugged/water resistant models. I do like the navionics app and it is very suitable fo what i need to do.
