Hey all,

We are heading down to Florida (Orlando) for the Pop Warner Football nationals in Dec. and I thought it might be fun to take some of the kids fishing in the Gulf. We will be in Orlando and a lot of these kids (9-10 year old's) have never been out of the state of Indiana, let alone to Florida. I know if will be something they will remember forever. I just wanted to get some advice on locations or if you know of a specific charter that is awesome. I think from Orlando, its about a 2 hour drive to the Gulf coast. Let me know if you guys have any input.
Thanks.

There are fishing charters in clearwater beach that are pretty good. There are actually several up and down the coast. I went on one with several guys years ago that left from Tarpon Springs (just North of CLW). They will love it. Have fun!

Yachtfish charters out of St. Pete is solid. inshore type fish. Or take them offshore for some grouper. Gotta have them sea legs tho. if they hook a big one they will never forget it. you are correct on the drive time.

For the kids best experience- watch the weather. Seas 3 feet or less.
I have had a a few overnight trips out of Johns Pass and caught a lot fo fish - had a great time. The seas were calm.
The folks at Johns Pass also do day trips that cater to family and children.
