Like most been reading on here for months and just thought i would join up! I am from bowling green KY. Currently own a 09 supercharged speedster and within the next 6 months to 1 year i am upgrading to a chaparral VRX, or Scarab HOI 195 haven't decided yet. I dont see many on here from this area so that sucks. Normally around lake Cumberland, dale hollow, Nolin, and Barren river lakes.

Welcome to the forum (officially)! You are right, the member map doesn't show many folks in your area, but there are 3 times more members that don't list their location.....(so note to those that forget....PUT YOUR LOCATION in your profile)

Happy hunting for the new boat!!!

Welcome @S.peay glad to have you. Good luck with the search for your next boat.

@S.peay Welcome to a fellow Kentuckian. There are a few of us on here, and a few more that list their location in Ohio that also frequent the area. We boat at Laurel River Lake and occasionally Cumberland, yearly trip to Norris in TN most years. Good to have you on board!

Welcome aboard! I also reside in God's Country, but I am all the way at the top of Kentucky. We primarily boat on the Ohio River near Cincinnati, OH, but have been to Cumberland several times and Norris Lake once or twice.

Good luck finding your new boat. The search is 1/2 the fun.

Welcome to the Forum! My brother lives a little west of you in Mayfield.

Hey there, most of my family live down in KY. Most live in Centertown, but some are in Owensboro and Morgantown!

Welcome! I have a lake house at Lake Cumberland. Just bought it and this will be the first summer and I can't freaking wait!!!

Welcome to the forum. This is the place to be for all jetboat owners.

@WildCatFan54 glad to have you on board, make sure to look at our FAQ section for lots of great tips,

thanks Scott. Beautiful boat. I am a true newby and need all the tips available !

Hello and Welcome! No worries, minus using and driving friends boats, this is my first boat as well and there are plenty of other "newby's" on here. Look for the gatherings and destinations and link up with the guys from your area. I have learned sooo much from the members here either from their posts or through direct conversations! This is definitely a great group of people who share their knowledge!

:Welcome:

Just got my 2016 AR240 today. The first thing I did (after reading all 135 pages of the owners manual) was join this forum. Looking forward to many years of sharing and reading other boat owners adventures.

Welcome aboard! Where will you be doing most of your boating?

I traded in my 2008 Bayliner 185 for the Yamaha AR240. Already have a slip at State Dock in Jamestown on Lake Cumberland. Will be keeping it there during the season and stored in LEX during the off season. The first few times of going in and out of my 10' x 24' slip should be interesting with the bigger boat and jet handling ?? Has me a little concerned.

Sweet! Hit up the lake cumberland trip thread!

Find a quiet bay on the lake after your first launch and practice low speed maneuvers (forward and reverse). While it handles differently than your previous boat, it is still a boat and you won't find it terribly different. I would also suggest going extra slow and have a couple of extra fenders out the first few times. Congrats on the new boat!

thanks Speedling & SCSTWG for the great advise.

If you plan on keeping the boat in a slip, you will want a battery tender of some sort. The stock bilge is the type that turns on intermittently and checks if it pumps to stay on or not. This means you will have a dead battery when you next come to see your boat. Not what you want. Certainly get a cheap something like battery tender jr or a solar something. Also, you could replace it for a float switch type of bilge as well.
How much did the slip cost you? Feel free to PM me actually, I love that lake.

Welcome aboard! Cant wait to follow this journey and help you spend your cash on a new boat!:winkingthumbsup"
