How about a section on the board strictly for someone having trouble on the water or at the lake? It could be monitored Easley and someone could assist more quickly instead of posting in general discussions.

That is a good idea Jeb. We are trying to keep the number of forums managable and that takes a good deal of control. But our membership there, or here, has always been to the rescue before the engine cooled down...in the summer for sure. I don't see that changing. But how about an emergency ping of some sort that creates a "sticky" or something to keep it in priority. If it was in a separate forum, a member would still have to go look and see it. Good thinking and will point this out to the guys... @Bruce @Julian @Murf'n'surf

How about posting in General Discussion with the hash tag #Rescue and we can monitor it?

I think this is a good idea especially with the mobile platform..... If our combined knowledge base can save someone from destroying their motor, or their marriage I think its a good service..... I also agree with forum management, but this idea has great merit on the basis of member recruitment/retention. If we can save a weekend, a motor, or a relationship, that is a valuable service that can set this board apart.....

I think that a sub forum for members in distress is unlikely to be checked frequently. I think they would get a faster response in general discussion.

I posted an issue with the depth gauge on my SX230 from the Gulf last year so I certainly understand the need and want to hear ideas on how we might prioritize such posts.

I'm pretty sure there is a way to follow a specific forum right? Could we then get email alerts for that specific section? Then everybody that wanted to could be alerted of a new topic or post. I'm not sure if there's a way to set it up like that, but I like the idea.

I like #Rescue or #911 or #GeniusBar

I think it is more about a notification than a tab to push. We need a tab that lights up, turns red, or has a red number come up with those waiting for rescue! Kind of like when a message or call is on your phone. That way, a member doesn't have to access a forum or look for it, it is an alert! A warning light for you aviators out there...

It could just be another tab like the alert, inbox, and your name up there top right...but this one would be RESCUE and show 1, 2, or however many have posted and needing immediate help.

First one to the Master Caution panel wins eh Mel? I like it...

Absolutely Bryan! Just what I was thinking. Just remember to silence the bell so you don't go bananas trying to solve the problem!

I think that would be awesome, just have to figure out how to accomplish it...

Its a great idea. If you are getting email notifications from a post..should work well in this case.

I love it! A few years ago I needed some help and didn't get responses because no one saw it. Love the idea as I would be more than happy to help those in need!

I like that idea also. I do not know if it is possible but as others have stated, a red flag popping up under 911 call or something similar.

Funny I was just thinking about this today as I spent 16 years remotely maintaining and provisioning the E911 system for many states. It might be best to stay away from using 911 though as that is a nationally accepted emergency code. There wouldn't necessarily be any repercussions from it but it could possibly lead to confusion. I like the flashing #RESCUE though. Possibly that could be set as an alert that each person could set in profile to go to email. Most of us have email accessible cell phones so coverage would be pretty good.

If it's possible to somehow trigger a special visible alert to all members online at that time, I think it will work well. This would be a trend setting feature! I do see this feature being misused but that is par for the course.

Yup, I agree with the occasional misuse thing but I'd rather get a call from someone who dropped his bottle opener overboard than not get a call from someone who broke a reverse cable thinking he can get his wife and kids home safely in two foot chop. You should hear the calls some of the real E911 dispatchers have told me about and many states require Police, Fire and ambulance to respond to every call. $$$

Put this on the home page. We need an APP that uses location services so that someone need only hit the button and you get all his info, then triangulates it with the member map, finds the closest member, or the member who has info on this type of emergency, puts them in touch and has a drone standing by with parts, etc.

Yeah, I like that.
