Hello folks. This is my first post and I wanted to introduce myself to the group. My name is Trent. A buddy of mine, Jeff Vans, referred me to the group. I currently don't have a jet boat, but I am looking. I currently have a 2007 South Wind 2010L Hybrid deck boat. It was great until I rode on my buddy's boat. Now I spend my time search the web trying to determine what I'm going to get next. I look forward to the conversations in here.

Welcome Trent, this is certainly the place to get your questions answered, and there are always Yamahas for sale on the classifieds board.

Thanks. I’m still trying to figure out what I want. I’m torn between the 242 and the 212. The only thing I do know is the boat has to be red.

They say the red ones are faster. Lol!

Mine’s blue, but definitely thinking about red. I find the red ‘14 242 Ltd S to be one sexy boat. Lol

Next time, I really want a ‘15+ though for the hinged seats and newer keel style.

No 230 series? Pointy Bow and pretty. Cheaper. Less new though....

600hp twin ACE? Can't afford it myself, but it seems an interesting concept. Maybe in a few years when the kinks are worked out.

Best of luck on your hunt!!! It's one of my favorite parts.

@BigAbe75 I have been looking at the '14 242s. Ive also been looking at the '16 242s E-series. Its a beast.

@Beachbummer, I'm not opposed to the 230. There just seems to be too many options out there. I think I find what I want and then I do a little more research and find something different. Its a never-ending battle.

Welcome to the Yamahood. @Betik this is the friend I was telling you about, the latest victim of the saga!!! hahahaha

Welcome.. We love helping you spend your mone.... Uhh. . Teaching you about all the mods you want to bu..... Uhhh. Educating u on the different models..

@T. Hardee welcome onboard. If you think that @JeffVans is bad influence wait until you hear that advice you will be getting here.
This forum made trade in honda pilot with less than 5,000 miles on it. Oh well.... Disclaimer is over. Let's see how we can efficiently spend all the money that you have.

The word on the street is that no one really complained about having too much of boat or too much of the power. However, I were you I would ask myself: " what do I want from my future boat"? I personally bought the boat with a single purpose in mind and that was Bimini. In my opinion that is a silly thing to do. There are plenty of solutions that will not cost you $60,000. Realistically, one week in Bimini should not come with a 5 digit pricetag. So I say try to figure out what you are trying to do with your future boat and we will narrow it down.

@jbranham is looking to buy a boat and he keeps an excel file for each boat his is seriously considering. I think that excel, has steered him away from some bad choices.

@Betik thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, my future boat will always change. Things I want today, I will not want tomorrow.

As far as Bimini goes, I read your saga. I wanted to try to crossing in the past, but your post makes me really want to try it. Hopefully it doesn’t cost $60k thought.
