I took it to the lake today, and towards the end of the day I lost power it seemed like i sucked up something, i tried the plugs in the back it was clear of any debris, i had to go really slow back to the marina, any suggestions?

Sometime when you shut the engine off and let the boat sit in the water or put it on the trailer whatever was stuck in the impeller falls out. So if you don’t see anything stuck try taking the boat out again as long as the engine is running good.

Today I hookup a hose to the engine tried running it, it only stays on when I accelerate, when it idles it dies, it's also smoking inside of the engine compartment

look for exhaust leaks usually in the hoses or the clamps
