We own a home on LBI, and now thinking about added a boat to our summer life. Will mainly boat in the Barnegat Bay and its pretty shallow especially near our area. Friend suggested both due to shallow draft, and safety of no exposed props to look at Jet Boats.

Any one know anything about this 2008 232 Limited that is listed for sale in Toms River? Planning to go look at it tomorrow. https://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/boa/d/yamaha-limited/6228830700.html

Welcome aboard! You are in the right place to explore all things jet boating.

The 2008 Yamaha 232 Limited is a very solid boat model. If it has been well maintained, it could be a good option for you.

First Boat Purchased Today!! 2008 232 Limited - 275 hours - mainly in salt water - I am third owner. I did have a jet ski specialist mechanic check it out, could be cleaner, but the mechanical stuff all looks good to go. 190 to 205 compression across all cylinders in the two HO engines. I can do the clean up and already have two yamaha oil change kits, an extractor and marine lube on the way to me. Given I am new to this sport and wife and 17 yo daughter also want to Pilot, I plan to order cobra jet steering and fangs. I have been fairly active on forums of my other motor vehicles ( CTSV Owners Forum, FerrariChat, AudWorld, GolfMK6) and also happy to benefit from the vast knowledge of the crowd.

I couple of picture from today when we got it home. Boat safety course this Saturday, and if weather is good Sunday, looking for my maiden voyage out of Harvey Cedars boat ramp into the Barnegat bay.

Congrats again on the new boat.

post some pics after the maiden voyage! I grew up in Eatontown NJ, love crabbing and fishing in the area (never boated in salt water)

And fishing or crabbing plans for the boat, or just family fun?

Once we get comfortable with the boat, fishing and crabbing are both likely in the cards.

Congrats and welcome aboard. . . .

Congrats! I live across the bay in Parkertown.
Plenty of great places around here to boat too.
Are you north of the LBI (Causeway bridge)?

Thanks Jeff - I am keeping the boat in a slip at Robbies Loveladies Marina - so north of the Causeway bridge. I have taken the boat out twice so far and both times out we anchored in little egg harbor, just south of the bridge. This past weekend on Sunday we were among a lot of anchored boats just off shore from the Ship Bottom bay beach for maybe an hour, this is as far south as we have ventured to date. Still a bit anxious about knowing where, outside of the marked channels, that safe to venture without running aground.

I would be great to connect on the water at some point!

Len

Yeah there is a lot of shallow, sandy areas south of ship bottom.

Yeah the ship bottom sandbar is a great place to hang out. Last few years there have been in prompt to barge bands playing out there (nicknamed BayDay). But the crowds got a little out of control last year and they didn't have any shows this year.

You can hug the intercostal heading south (Toward Holgate) and be just fine.

We have a real nice sandbar every other weekend ( when the tide is right ) see attached pictures.

On LBI, there is Poly's Dock. You can dock right up and they have excellent food and the best sunset views of the west.

I'm away on vacation for the next two weeks but I'd be more than happy to meet up with you out in the bay!
