Honda Aquatrax Gas Tank Recall

Does anyone know if there is a time limit on this recall? Meaning, it has to be done within a certain time frame/specific year or otherwise the cost becomes the responsibility of the owner? I have a 2004 R12X. Thanks!

I have no idea on overall timing. I think it is more subject to parts availability. I had mine done two years ago, no charge.

I had mine done maybe 3 years ago now. This was a recall that started geez years ago. I thought it would have ended by now. You time may be up but i am not basing that on anything. You would have to find an authorized svc center to find out

Do you know how they replaced the tank? Did they take the engine out and slide the tank thru the seat opening or did they have to separate upper and lower decks and had to reglue them back?

My ski runs perfectly and has been maticously maintained since day one. I previously heard about the recall but was very concerned on how they were going to get the tank out without screwing something in the process. Decided to hold off until a later time but now wondering if I waited too long? I wanted to make sure dealers get enough experience dealing with the issue before taking mine. At the moment, I don’t have any issues of any kind but don’t want to risk this further. I’ve always ran the normal precheck before and after every outing and specifically looking for any signs of leak. My ski has less than 100 hours if I recall correctly and looks very close to when it came out of the crate.
I will call the dealer next week and see where this will go. I hate to have to bring it when temps outside are in the 20’s F but that is the best time given it gets used in the summer.

At this point, since there are very few Aquatrax being serviced at Honda dealers (with some dealers not even having PWC techs) I'd say the time has passed to get done.

Yea and Honda motorcycle dealers cant do it. It has to be a honda watercraft dealer and since there arent any of those it may be hard to find a svc shop that can do it under warranty. I was lucky to have a really good pwc only shop here that specializes in aquatrax. They arent a dealer but somehow are setup with honda to do the warranty repair.

I see it's been awhile since the latest post, but here's an update.
I have a 2004, just have the tank replaced under warranty. No issues!! It took about 1-2 months for the dealer to get the parts in, a couple of days to complete the work, so yes, Honda is still honoring the warranty on the gas tank.
