Tried to go to the other site to see if I had been banned for inviting other members to check this site out via private messages. Without reading anything on the page I assumed that I had been banned since it would not let me in. Then I looked closer in the upper left-hand of the page it says that "the board is currently disabled." That leads me to believe that Brian has "hit the panic button," and wants to shut down all potential YJB owner communication in fear that they may be discussing this new site!! Wow, if Brian is that desperate and fearful then he knows that it's just a matter of time and he's standing on a ship at sea that has lost steerage, power and is on fire. See pic below.

On another note, does anyone know if this site has been picked up on the major search engine's (Google, Bing, Yahoo) radar so that the YJB people who cannot log into the old site may finds us instead (possibly by accident) doing their own topic specific web searches?

WOW thats interesting, I've never seen that before. I have to admit to having my head in the sand on what happened over "there" but I can read between the lines well enough - I guess. This forum is certainly a good thing - change is always good.

It was best to keep your head down over there anyways.

Maybe he shut it down overnight so he could sleep. Probably monitoring everyone's PM's got tiresome.

I have no idea what the problem is, but this does seem pretty underhanded. I did not publicly share my email address, so someone I had individual communications with shared that here for recruitment. For a site that was registered 16 days ago, and contains information from the other site, this seems more like a phishing attempt rather than something with good intentions. I'm likely not the only one that questioned a security breach, which is probably why it was taken offline.

Not a good start.

So @bucks448 if I understand your post you are saying that this site "that was registered 16 days ago, and contains information from the other site, this seems more like a phishing attempt rather than something with good intentions." Then you go on to say "not a good start." Should we take that to mean that we won't be seeing you back around here any more? Have you noticed that you haven't been banned for saying that? LOL

Why can there be only one jetboaters site? If you look at cars sites, lets just use camaros, there are plenty of the same message boards out there. I know because I was a member of 4 of them and posted on all of them.

Any information on this site has been created by the members of this site. Brian doesn't own your posts. His terms of service do not result in you relinquishing the rights to your content.

I just now noticed the bottom of the YJB page poster above where it says "Board is Currently Disabled for Management Assessment and for Processing Group Buys. Estimated at 24-48 hrs.

Interesting...LOL "Management Assessment" Brian thinks to himself: "WFT is going on here?" as the smoke billows and the flames grow higher!!

Am I correct in understanding that YJB is Brians job? Well, along with the Dorsett site that is linked with it?
I mean, that seems like a huge undertaking and really should be 3-4 people's side jobs kinda thing IMO.
I like Will from JBP and I like the YJB site, so I support by contributing and buying things. I think he has overloaded himself though.
Perhaps Brian simply needs to let others help more and take a break. I mean, when does the guy get a vacation? Not taking time away from your work will drive you literally insane and a good vacation can give you perspective on what's going on.
I hope all is well. I certainly won't stop posting there unless I get banned!

We'll see how things play out. I've never had a problem with getting banned, and I've been around longer than most. Whatever happens, it won't be the same. A divided membership isn't a good thing.

The only reason to shut down that site to process group buys is because you are paranoid that you might miss a post or pm that says something you don't agree with. Once established a site should be able to run on its own, if only for a short while. I bet Bruce and Julian don't power down this place when they go out to dinner, to sleep, or to work.

If that's a full-time it's only because he's not able to hold down a real job. A lot of that stuff ships directly from the manufacture and he is simply a middle man. The only thing that I ordered through him that he actually touched with his own hands was a pack of bimini clips.

I disagree. I'm an Ayn Rand capitalist and believe that competition makes nearly anything better, whether for profit or nonprofit. Government has zero competition and that's why it will forever be so ridiculously inefficient particularly when compared to the private free market. Look at all of the technological upgrades, vastly improved ease of use, and efficiency of this new site compared to the old one - all for $16 a month!! All with the added bonus of FREEDOM OF SPEECH as long as it's not abusive. Imagine that in Obama's "fundamentally transformed America.!!" I know that there are more members and info over there at the other site (for right now at least) and I will continue to use it when it comes back up if I'm not banned (which I suspect that I will be). I will not, however, sacrifice my principles for access to a web site regardless of how many tips I can find on it for a boat.

I understand your comments and hope things work out for all of us. There has been divisions over there for years, many of us just didn't know it because of the filtering that goes on.

I agree with @primedoc in that I wish to continue at both sites as long as I am welcomed and can contribute something.

We are bound to see mixed emotions about all of this. I know I have very mixed emotions. @bucks448 ...when you contribute thousands of dollars to help support a place you call home, and you do so of your own free will, and you are manipulated into thinking that it takes those dollars to get the work done, well...go read the financial disclosures here...https://jetboaters.net/index.php?forums/rules-regulations-operations.37/ That is the true cost of running a board...and with an upstart, there is certainly much more work to do than just everyday seeing after. Let's add to the fray that I participated in, and started several pledge drive campaigns to generate additional income for them as well. And...I was active for almost 6 years. By active, I mean that I got out the manuals and even took my boat apart at times, to get answers or take pictures for the member...I was a contributor from the word go. I watched the rules and treatment of others change on a whim, and most of it was to support and groom the site to funnel money to the store. That would be ok, but questionable business practice was used to cut out other vendors in the process. But the beat all of it for me, was to have lies told about me, and to be banned without warning, without explanation, without answers to my emails or texts. This is not only bad behavior, it is a bad business model. A forum is people...not one man playing games with people. Splintering a forum isn't a good thing, and I NEVER wanted to do that, and resisted doing so a number of times. And believe me, plenty have wanted to do so for similar reasons through the years. When I was banned, it opened my eyes that things were not going to change there without some pretty drastic help. And YJB had taken on a toxic tone. Members we not only allowed to attack other members, the were encouraged behind the scenes. Lies were made up, and venom was spewed. I want to see all that change whether I frequent there or not. I enjoyed helping guys with their boats and boating issues, and received PM's on a regular basis asking for help. When a well known member just drops off the face of the earth, people ask questions and look for answers. Jetboaters.net is one of the results of that as well as a desire to let the member decide the direction and have the things that they have long wanted in a Yamaha jetboat forum. And of those, we are answering a bunch of questions here and meeting the needs. We may be able to exist in harmony with the other site, but the individual anger some will feel won't go away quickly. There are always more than one angle to anything. This forum will benefit the owner of these and other boats and your contribution (non financial) here is welcome, but the facts and reasons are multi-faceted and more than just a playground incident. Welcome to Jetboaters.net...we ARE here to help, and to provide a place where Liberty and Freedom are the founding principles in a forum "of the member, by the member, and for the member".

@primedoc, @Gym, borrowing a quote from the Blues Brothers, trying to control what sites a member uses, purchases from or posts about "has not been, is simply not, nor will ever be a part of this band's repertoire."

I like the way this new site is set up, it is much more 2014 than 2000 style. But I really do hope that both sites can live in harmony.

With other companies making jet boats this forum is set for some huge expansion over the next couple of years. It will be interesting to compare stories with Glastron, Scarab, See-doo and other boats once we get some of those boat owners on board.

On a side note.... Did anyone invite Alysha??? Her posts were always um.... very thought provoking!
