Is there any way that I can turn the flywheel on the MR1? I'm trying to reinstall my starter, and it only goes in so far. I don't want to tap on it and possibly chip some teeth.
I've tried that, move it a bit, retry, etc... but that starter position is really hard to get to and it's just not working out. I think it's pretty tight anyways, I had to persuade it with a prybar to get it to come out.
Then I guess your best bet is as @Bruce mentioned is remove the spark plugs and have someone slowly turn the impeller as you try to install the starter. The flywheel teeth will eventually line up with the starter's pinion gear teeth.
