How long to you travel to get to your boating destination?

We have some smaller lakes in the area that are 30 min away, the river is 45 min away.

How far do others travel?

9 miles to Lake Shasta, 13 miles to Whiskeytown. The only two lakes we boat at.

Our closest local lake is over an hour away. But we usually drive 5 hours to the Colorado river and spend 3-4 days on the water.

1/2 mile to the ramp from my house, boat sits about 50 yards from the ramp, ramp goes into St Andrews Bay, from the ramp to the pass into the Gulf is about 3 miles.

Dennis,

We used to live in Thousand Oaks. We also went to the river a few times. We've taken the 130 mile round trip from Lake Havasu City to Bullhead City, once on the jet ski with 3 on board, and once with the boat. This is a photo from that trip April 2007.

It's a very beautiful ride.

July 2010 with the boat. It's not likely that we will ever be there again now that we've moved to Redding. Moving to redding also kills any idea of boating on lake Powell.

We have the Kankakee river less than 1 mile away, but we really like Clinton lake 2 hours away, and Shelbyville 2 1/2 hours away..

I know Powell is a long way @jdonalds , if we can make it one year, I hope you can too! I see it as a big gathering! What fun that would be!

Ray Roberts is 1 mile from the house, but the ramp is 10 minutes on a paved but bumpy turning road. My favorite anchorage is 10 minutes down the lake at 28 mph. But my cruise speed just increased from 28 on the old boat to 32 on the new one. But best cruise is only 3.26 mpg vs 3.41 mpg on the old boat. BUT...WOT burns less on the new boat at 2.43 mpg vs 2.26 on the old boat. AND...I can set the same speed the Dawg did at WOT and get even better mpg's...

I'm less than a mile from the launch ramp to the Licking river which separates Covington Kentucky and Newport Kentucky and feeds into the Ohio river. From the launch ramp it is probably 5 miles to the Ohio river.

We are 40 minutes to a lake in Ohio we frequent (East fork) , and probably 50 minutes to Brookville Lake in Indiana.

The big water (for us) is Lake Cumberland (3-3.5 hrs south) or Norris Lake (3.5 hrs south) or Lake Erie (3.5-4 hrs North)

About 2 hours for Roosevelt Lake and 5 hours for Lake Powell.

8 minutes to Orwood on the ca delta

5 local lakes from 35 minutes --2 hours... Powell 5 hours, Havasu 4 hours

We basically use the same two lakes. Lake Lewisville, which is 15 mins from home and Lake Texoma, which is about 45 mins from home. We plan on trying some new ones further away this summer.

Y'all that have water close to you need to quit bragging!! Two hours and change to texoma. Hour and change to PK which is running low...

One hour from our Lake Keowee which is where we go locally. Three hours from our place at Lake Oconee.

Speaking of...PK is an awesome lake. We went there two summers ago and had a blast. Based on the terrain around the lake you feel like you are somewhere else besides Texas.

For the people over an hour do you have a slip or do you tow?

Always tow. Don't like to leave the boat in the water, and since she is garage kept, a better solution for us....

The majority of the time we go up to Lake Zumbro for watersports which is 15 mins away.
Lake Byllesby is 50 mins.
Lake Pepin is 55 mins.
