How to "fix" loose cushion blocks

@Geoff Cooper inspired me to do this short "how to" write-up.

The plastic blocks under my cushions shake loose every once in a while. I've tried gluing them in place and using wider screws but so far the best solution I've found is using plastic ribbed anchors from the hardware store.

I bought the smallest I could find and cut off the excess, if any, before reinstalling the blocks. $2 For a set of 10 with screws or $7 for 100 without screws. It takes longer to purchase them than install them.

I dont understand. What comes loose? And what are you attaching?

The plastic blocks that hold the seat cushions in place. I just added a new pic to the original post. My bad for not being more articulate and illustrative. I don't do many write ups, working on it though.

Oh ok i was just looking at the packet which contained screws also.

I should be more clear. I only used the plastic anchors not the screws that came with them. I reused the screws that were already installed in the boat.

Looks like tomorrow I'm going to do the same this to a carpet snap screw which stripped out the material it is in. That is, I will use an anchor to rescue the screw.

Love it !!! I just had to "tighten" up a couple of mine this spring. I guess when they come loose, I know what the next step is. Thanks for the idea!!

Now thats weird. Since my first reply.....i was towing home yesterday and a seat cushion almost blew out! It was the plastic block!!!!

I moved the block an inch to the side. But yours is more stout.

The plastic anchors did not work for me (several years ago). And screws holes were loose. I ended up getting larger diameter stainless screws and also white silicone under each plastic block. Still holding.
