SO it's full blown summer here and we've been trying to find some "economical" means of providing shade to the swim platform and came up with this...it's our first attempt and had about 15 mph winds to deal with but got it semi secured. Just trying to figure out a way to stop the sway in the wind, going to keep modding till I figure it out or just get tired of it and break down and get a custom shop to figure out a way to get some additional canvas on her. 20180622_150441.jpgCHANGED ideas here is the setup that works for us.20180710_144517.jpg

I saw those the other day and was wondering to myself if they would actually work or not being used EXACTLY like that. I love it!

I was thinking of "clamping" those rear poles to the rear cleats at some level.

Perhaps a long flexible fiberglass pole run around the top rear of the "tent" and into the cupholders?

What about taking the tie down lines and crossing them to the boat tie-down strap locations. Should give you the cross bracing you need to hold that in place a little better. Not sure how that will impact access to the platform/ladder though. Might not work.

I'll keep thinking.

I like what you have. It seems like a mod to add a base would not be out of the question though. There is a lot of flat area on that lower step. Unless they went skimpy on the glass structure there, most of us have drilled bigger holes in our boats.
This shows the base removed (yucky...sorry it was before I cleaned it up for the Seadek install).

Ok that is a great idea if this doesn't work out...what mount did you use there..

It is the OEM table mount and table leg. I am not sure about availability or cheaper options if finding the non-Yamaha part numbers.

Not to get off subject; but I removed it to take accurate measurements as the factory installed it off-center and the stock Seadek kit didn’t fit.

What now? :nailbiting: Luckily @JetBoatPilot helped me out with custom offset lower mats.

What brand is that? I got the KingCamp version, but I like that blue a lot!

Here you go: Auperto it was a nice shade but,
We ended up sending it back couldn't get it to stabilize in the wind, so we have ordered a new bimini and are going to try and rig an extension. Just got a quote for a 4 ft extension on the existing bimini @ $620 , so we ordered an entire bimini setup for $169. I figure with the hardware we have and what is in the new one we can come up with something.

I use mine on the bow and the support legs end up at angles that keep it from moving. I bet it would be an issue on the stern. I use my Anchorshade 3 on the stern. I like the idea of the extra bimini though since you should be able to fold it up or run with it open.

That's what we are hoping for, the bimini should be in today so if I can mod it up the way I want I will post up some pics...

When in use on the bow, where do the legs attach/land?

they go in the drink cup holders for now, but I'd like to fix that some day. It's a bit of a pain to setup so I really only use it when we stop to grill since my grill mount is on my bow.

FOUND IT! This is what we were looking for stable, adjustable and fits on the swim platform with minimum interference! Winds at about 8 to 10 mph while we had it up and it worked like a charm. Found it here if you want one Bimini Extension. Works on the bow as well!

i added my extended bimini last year at crab island in Destin Fl. Consist of two adjustable painters poles, a few feet of bungie cord and rubber stoppers on each end of the poles to secure the sheet and to hold the bottom on the latches on the wet storage area. flutters in the wind pretty well, only for anchoring.

It looks great and I thinm I've seen the product on Amazon. There are some complaints in their comments section. about a lot of plastic components that make could cause the product to be a lot less durable over time. What are your thoughts on the quality of the item? Do you think it will hols up over several seasons?

Bought this to use on the beach with the wife and dogs, then thought I may could make it work on the boat also. Feels pretty sturdy actually so I hope it will do ok in the wind. Hope to try it this weekend.
