I noticed the same thing when that sale was announced and surprised to hear that as well. To me it seemed like they could have done better if they combined efforts/brands in some way there. Gander's online store was so late to the game (yrs ago) it was pretty sad by comparison to places like Bass Pro, Cabelas, seems like they could have piggy backed off Overton's presence online. Guess we'll see where it takes that store...

We found that out last year when all of our Overtons transactions were showing up as Gander Mtn on our online statement.

Well, Bass Pro bought Cabellas last year with CA$H, if that tells you anything about them. It's sad to see Gander Mt. go out of business, but I think the market is saturated for this type of stuff. For boating supplies, I've always just Googled stuff and bought from the cheapest company online. It's hard to stock boat parts at a brick and mortar store. Inventory turnover is likely pretty bad and carrying costs are high.

As I've read several times over now, internet shopping will be the death of the brick and mortar stores. Other than clothes and fresh food, we do the bulk of our shopping online.

Even those are gaining online traction as well. With a good number of clothing stores offering free shipping and returns now, my family does a lot of our clothes shopping online.
