That they didn't have any Yamaha jet boats left in stock and that they were not expecting any 2017 models until November.

They also sold out of all of their Seadoo Sparks and only had two wave runners left in stock.

The salesman went on to confirm that they can't sell the 192 because there is no CA version of it. He also stated that they can't sell the fsh for the same reason (I thought they had non supercharged engines) but defer to his experience. He did raise an interesting question though, why are they allowed to sell waverunners with the same engine as the 192 but not the 192? I think Yamaha just didn't apply for or receive the permission needed similar to the situation which prevented them from selling 240 series boats in CA during 2012.

Not that I've ever seen one but there is a section in my 192 owners manual that discusses the 4 stars and how to identify if the boat is one.

Sounds like your dealer had a good year if his inventory is wiped out.

I'd guess the engine doesn't meet the emissions when it's pushing that much more weight around (boat + load capacity). Makes sense for the 192, not sure about the FSH

I just checked what the salesman said against the oem parts availability list, basically he is correct about the 192 and fsh. That is, Yamaha does not offer a CA version in either.

Before I forget, he did say they had a good year and that they and had to call other dealers to get additional PWCs this year. All they had left were a bottom of the line vx (no reverse or swim step) which I understand why it hadn't sold yet, although it was marked down quite a bid to Yamaha's new EX (?) waverunner price and an fx sho which was marked down to $12,500 from almost $15,000 and which he was showing to a call in customer when I left. I wish I would have called in, it would have saved ,e a trip out there.

I didnt think about how additional weight would impact the emmissions results, makes sense though. I was just thinking same engine same emissions just reduced performance from the boat.

I beleive the issue with selling the FSH in California is that Yamaha has not gone through the certification process for that model. I believe it would pass they just have not certified it.

That sounds right on the local "Bay Area" dealer. I called out there about a month ago to see if they had a 24' boat in stock as I'm looking to upgrade my 2009 Limited S and I was told at the time that they ran through their 2016 inventory and wouldn't have anything until later this fall. Now I'll just wait and go look this winter and see what they have.

The San ramon boat store in Roseville may still have some 2016 240s in stock, I'm sure I saw at least two there on the lot when I was I that area late last month. It may be worth a phone call if you can take a 2016 over a 2017 and want to save a little money. I plan to stop by there once ski season starts as that is usually when I'm passing through that area.
