Hi all,

I think I am going to try out the Illinois River for the 4th. My plan is to launch at Heritage Harbor in Ottawa [ Home — Heritage Harbor Ottawa ]. Just curious if anyone has been in this area. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

In general, be extra cautious on unknown rivers. Sandbars and stumps will sneak up on your quickly. Any recent rainfall with send sticks and crap down river.

Watch out for Asian Carp jumping into your boat and give the barges lots of room
