Merry Christmas all! We are Enjoying Christmas in Cape Coral this year. Dropped our boat in at Horton park boat ramp and used the closest canal to cut across Del Prado. I saw a 212x yellow and black up on a lift and wondered if its anyone here. Would love some suggestions on places to visit by boat.
Thanks,
Andy

I would take a ride up to Cabbage Key (Supposedly were Jimmy Buffett got the idea for cheeseburger in paradise) there’s a restaurant Where you can consume one of these. Also check out cayo costa state park they have first come first serve docks. $2 per entry (honor system box). They have a free tram that runs you over to the beach. Or anchor of the beach on gulf side if the waters not to cold for ya. 90F613E4-CFF1-4850-B7CD-AFAF01079E19.jpeg

Nice. I'm going to have to put some of these places into my GO7 and navigate there. We've had fun so far just cruising the canals and looking at homes. My F-I-L has also felt very lucky that his seawall is intact when so many are damaged.

I feel the same about the sea walls. Quite a few down around here as well. We were lucky as well. Probably about 20-30 miles from where you’re at but it’s a beautiful ride. Forecast looks great for the week with Saturday being absolutely flat. Enjoy your stay. CC2A5ED1-3FD0-415C-93DF-637C17A11AC1.png

I bought a place in Cape Coral this year. I have a dock and a lift, but So far, I don't have a boat there yet. I'm keeping an eye out for a killer deal. I've been on friends boats there, and always see Yamahas out and about. The Boat House Tiki bar is a great place, as well as Ft. Myers Beach! I have my place on VRBO, but not sure if I should offer/include use of the boat lift. I would consider it for known members here, if there was any interest. I see how we take care of our boats here!

Cayo Costa is ok but you can often get noseums, the sand a little gritty plus no beach anchoring!!!! As I found out when a warden was having a bad day, as he also commented on my bottle of Bud Lite, in its koozie but showing the top label, so, according to him, he knew I was drinking beer  To which I was then told, your not allowed to consume alcohol on Cayo Costa because its a State park .

However, I'll let you into a little secret, just keep it to yourself, if your looking for a real beach, soft powder sand, untouched shelling and all to yourself, go to North Captiva, Gulf side. Then, if you've not got a packed lunch, head to Barnacle Phils, there's a little marina and plenty of room this time of year.

I would absolutely offer your boat lift with your rental. What better way to get renters who would like to go boating everyday from the backyard.

Anyone know if we have a registered member with a black and yellow 212X in Cape Coral?

This is NOT my place, but we seen it, while down there. Beautiful house for sale. I wonder if they would throw in the Yamaha!?

Nice place, did you call to find out how much? I'm tempted.

haha, I didn't, but I'd be curious. It was in a nicer area, I believe Tarpon Estates Blvd, near Chiquita Lock. A tad out of my price range lol.

Look for us out there flying a white JB flag from the tower. 17' ar240. If you don't spot us you will for sure hear us.

I live in Cape, we will be out Saturday heading towards Bonita Beach to our secret spot and then heading back to Saint James city (pine island) up the canal to Woodys waterside grill before going back up river to the cape.

@CraigAR , Were you out on the Caloosahatchee river yesterday about 5pm a little south of the Midpoint bridge? We were heading in and saw a Black and White Yamaha.

How long is the ride out there? Or out to North Captiva? We want to pick a day and head to the north end of Captiva to let the kids play. Some would go by boat and others by car since I'm on a 19'.

Not yesterday, we were out last Saturday. My boat is white with a red bottom and red graphics. From Cape harbour your looking at about 30-40 minutes depending on how you drive your boat. Once you get out of miserable mile (marker 92-99) you can open it up heading towards Sanibel. There is no speed limit in the channel. I would stay to the left and go under the causeway towards Sanibel lighthouse and head up the Gulf side.

@CraigAR So I've googled Miserable Mile and tried to find it on any Nav maps and had no luck. I guess I'll know it when I see it?

It's between marker 92-99. Locals have referred to this slow speed as Miserable mile but really the true miserable mile starts at marker 101 and it is not a slow speed. There is a strong side current going North and South caused by the tidal flow and the channel is very narrow leaving it hard for sailboats to maneuver. If you get out of the channel it drops to about a foot. So most people see miserable mile as the slow speed while in reality it's the narrow channel that give sailboats a problem.
