Agreed. I switched everything to LED, Nav light, anchor, courtesy, dash, and all trailer lights. Added some LED reverse lights to the trailer too.

I would think that you should take the boat outside at night and see which one you can see best from a distance. This is more about people's ability to see you than what looks brighter on your garage ceiling. Visibility of wavelengths of light change at different distances. That said, the LEDs typically are brighter.

It would be difficult to find an incandescent bulb anywhere around our house. I changed them all out (including refrigerator, microwave, garage door opener, attic lights, etc.) to LED. I must admit though I hadn't thought of the boat. We've never had the boat out in darkness and aren't likely to. I'll leave the boat lights as is.

My recommendation would be go LED. Brighter. Lower power consumption. Mechanically more robust.

While the pictures may appear that the LED is "brighter", its only because more of the LED light is emitted up towards the ceiling rather than out "all around". When we consider the purpose of the anchor light is to shine outwards horizontally and not up to the sky, in this case the Incan is actually doing a better job. We can see the Incan shines more light on the wall than the LED does. Declaratitons that LED is always brighter are not universally true and purely subjective on the situation.

With that said, I still vote for the LED lights and I have LED nav/anchor lights on my boat. Lower power consumption, more durable to weather and vibration, and less heat.

Most navigation lights need to be rated for a set distance. Make sure the light falls under those standards. I would go LED everytime, because battery life is everything out on the water and LED usually lasts a lot longer also.
