Hey all,

New to Forum and want to know if there are any actual agent on here serving Miami or anybody you guys recommend. Need to insure brand new 2015 AR240. The Yamaha dealer said he uses Seaworthy personally and loves them. If nobody responds I guess I'll just call them.

Thanks in advance,
Nick

Everything I have is with State Farm. Never had any problems with them whatsoever.

And the most important thing...Welcome!! :Welcome:

I have Geico which is Seaworthy, No issues and price was good

I have my boat coverage through Allstate because that's who has my home and cars. However, based on a few of the experiences here that have been discussed with accidents (boat on trailer), towing (boat on trailer and boat in water) and now salvage fees (God forbid) I have called my agent and asked that he explain and show me what I am covered for and what I am not. I think many of us probably have no idea if our insurance policy will perform as we hope when we need it.

No matter what you do, shop at least 3 companies. I have Boat US insurance and towing.

Congrats on the boat. I use State Farm for all of my insurance needs including the boat. I priced out several options and State Farm was the lowest for me.

Boat US. They are specialists in the field and are competitive in pricing.

Welcome....and congrats....

Make sure you buy coverage for where you will be boating and keep it updated. If you say "inland lakes" and boat in the ocean....you won't be covered (most likely)

Got several online quotes, went with Geico, which turned out to be Sea Worthy. Had to make several changes to policy at the request of the marina where I keep the boat, nearly doubling the liability amount, and making the marina a co-insured entity. The sea worthy rep was great to work with and the price only went up about $30 a year

Thanks for all the welcoming comments. Starting to call around today. Guess I should have asked details of what you guys pay. My first call was to Geico(Seaworthy) because they have my auto. They quoted me 4 grand a year. Is that insane or was I just way off on what I expected?

Thanks,
Nick

Yup, 4k is not only insane, it's criminal. We've had "who do you use for insurance" threads in the past. Most pay in the range od $250 to $600 depending on the boat and where you live. I can only hope the $4000 included all your cars, houses and boats for life. Update your profile to show where you're located. I'm sure there are members in your area (view our members map) that will be able to give you a better idea of what they pay for what they have and where they boat.

Oh yeah...Welcome to the forum @Tanktop. That's a great boat you bought.

Thanks Gym,

That quote insulted me so much I may switch my auto policy away from Geico!

I live in Miami. Ill update profile when I get home.

Thanks

Another thing to look for @Tanktop . My policy includes 2 tows per year so I don't need to buy additional towing insurance. They are capped, I believe $3500 per tow. I don't have the amount of my total premium but it's a little under $500. I do boat in the ocean and have coverage for water sports.

Consider getting a tow boat / trailer boat policy as well if your primary insurance doesn't cover trailering problems. For instance you get a flat and can't change it yourself for any reason, like you don't have the correct size wrench.

If you by a Boat US membership the trailer tow insurance is only something like $14/year the entire membership is around $80 with the trailer tow coverage.
