Here’s an interesting device to secure your doc line. Just sharing in case this can help someone out, maybe either soloing or if you’re relying on a passenger to secure one end of the boat. Here's the link. Scroll down and you'll see a video.

That’s interesting but I wonder if it can catch the smaller cleats that are usually standard where I boat.

I found this which looks pretty easy to use - I may get one for my girlfriend who usually handles the bow line:

Nice! That actually looks more user friendly for the crew. I'm alone most of the time. I discovered how to run the rope in the back up the side and to the front, where I jump off. That way I have both ropes in hand.
