Is it safe to put insulation inside of gas tank hatch?

I placed some foam squares inside the gas tank compartment covering the back wall of the hatch and the top surface to see if it would help with sound deadening. Will this cause a problem of any kind? I assume there shouldn't be a heat issue, and venting occurs outside the hatch through the vent line. Is filling this space with foam going to cause any problems? Thanks. Matt

I would not see any issue and many have done it in the past. Also just make sure it can't come loose and block the drain fitting for the compartment.

Make sure that the foam you use does not absorb water and is mold resistant.
