I see non supercharged 1.8s listed as High output and Im like really?? I took that shit off my boat pronto but is there a low output 1.8??

Yup. Found in most 80's model VW's. All very, very low output 1.8L engines.

Perhaps remove one spark plug wire to make one?

The older 1.8 engines were 160hp so the newer 180hp engines are considered high output.

In the boats there never was a 1.8 that was 160 hp. That was the mr1 high output in the old 212 series and 230s that was 160 hp. The 210s are 110 hp. The old school pre 07 230s had some HO 160 hp and some non HO 140 hp engines.

Maybe they consider 100hp per liter high output?

I don't know about you, but my ego is directly tied to my ability to display that the engine I am driving is big and super something. Some combination of turbo can also help. I think they hit the nail on the head with the Super Vortex High Output engine.
