I'm on the west coast and there aren't many used jet boats that pop up around here, but I just found a 2016 AR192 for $27k locally. Says it has 60 hours on it.

That seems like fairly reasonable price to me, but what do you all think?

As a first-time boat buyer, what should I keep in mind if/when I look at it? I'm planning on hiring someone to inspect it as well - is that par for the course?

Any other tips? Thanks in advance!

Seems like a good deal.

See this post for some comparison between the AR192 & 195 but it discusses prices back in 2018 when they were much more reasonable. It looks like you would be getting a decent deal. I think we may sell our 2017 AR195 (79 hours) in a month or two and will likely be north of $35K asking price.

Check out the FAQ section accessed in the blue ribbon at the top of the page. I also grabbed a good link from the FAQ and posted it below. I think the third post in has a good pre-purchase checklist and the discussion covers a lot of tips as well.

I didn't think you could purchase/register a 192/195 in California. But there are two more states on the west coast.

I live in CA and purchased a 2015 AR192 about two years ago. Registered the boat in AZ (out of state Reg which is about $220 a year)…however AZ doesn’t charge sales tax on a used boat so it saved me about $2500 as opposed to registering it in CA…the boat is stored / used in Havasu so the AZ registration is legit since you’re supposed to register the boat where you use it the majority of the time. We LOVE our boat and it has been flawless for us. If you end up deciding to wait, we’ll probably be selling ours to upgrade to a 21’. I think that’s a decent price since with our upgrades we’ll probably be asking around 32k for ours.

I paid $27k for my ar192 last April with 50 hours. I would jump all over that this year.

Seller got back to me and said "title will be here tomorrow," which is a bit of a red flag for me. I'll see if anything develops.

Thanks for the replies, all!

They could have just paid it off, which is fair. The biggest red flag is not willing to talk on the phone. If you can talk to them on the phone and schedule a time to look it, it should be legit. With that being said, go look at as soon as they let you, otherwise it will be sold to someone else.
