Fairly common in new boats and good reason for full bilge flush early in boats production life.
Particularly bad for boats w/ bilge pumps in actual bilge (unlike Yamahas) as these metal remnants would eat a bilge pump.

Nut would concern me if the nylon had threading marks. This one does not and was likely just dropped during construction.

@Julian

If you had not seen, ref your receiving yours next week-

Good advice @Glen ! Although the Yamaha bilge pumps aren't all the way in the stern...they aren't far off...than that crap will slosh around! I hadn't yet added "Bilge Alarm" to my mod list....now you've given me reason #2 to put it on there (blow out being #1)!

Hey Glen
I replaced my scupper valve 2 weeks ago and found a pile of stuffimage.jpeg

Slap that black rubber thingy back on your MR-1 motor.

Exactly what I did with that plug . I noticed it missing last year I looked all over with a mirror in engine area. When I saw it I new rite were it went.
