Jet boating

hi all, I am an avid jet boater of many years..I have owned and/or built at least 6-7 jetboats over many years. Until recently they were all Hamilton Jet powered...a brilliant bomb proof unit. I lived in Australia for most of my life but recently moved to The western Cape in South Africa. Have spent several months looking to buy yet another jet boat here in ZA but could not find any Hamilton’s. As a result I have just purchased a Sugar Sand from Durban. It is a few years old now but has had little use. I have very little knowledge of the mechanical system in the boat as it is quite different to the Hamilton system being part of the engine - a Mercury 170 hp.
If I can offer any help or advice re Hamilton’s I am happy to. Equally if anyone has any suggestions RE the new toy, please contact me.....

There are people on here with the mercury v 6 engines and mercury pumps, it uses an outboard 2 stroke power head, Those have not been in production for quite some time but there are plenty still in use . sugar sand and sea doo both used those engines and pumps and I still build steering systems for them .

Is Sugar Sands from/something to do with SA? One of the local marinas here, the owner was from SA and told me a huge history about Sugar Sands once upon a time. I just don't remember much of it now...

Sugar Sand were built right here in Fargo, ND. Of course they have been shut down for a number of years. There is a big Mercury SportJet following on the SeaDoo forums. Solid engines and pumps, but they need their fair share of maintenance to remain reliable.
