Hi I have a 2024 Yamaha FSH model H is there a way to lower the jet buckets without the engines running, thanks

I believe you can start the engine put it in reverse and then shut it off if not you can release the coupler on the end oif the cable and let the bucket go down free of the cable just be sure to reconnect it after you do that.

Thanks I did that but the buckets goes right up

Ok try starting the engines put the controls in reverse leave them in reverse and turn off the engine then quickly turn the key back to the on position but do not hit the start position just the on position see if that works

What would happen if you turned off both battery switches with the motor running while in Neutral or Reverse?

I imagine the alternators in your engines wouldn't be too happy. Poof!

I know the Sport H and Sport E have different jets & buckets due to the Sport H's Helm Master system, but my Sport E uses two electric servos to move the buckets. When I took delivery of my (less than seaworthy, pandemic-era) boat, the twin-servo box was sitting loosely underneath the helm, behind the (very loosely and poorly mounted) HDPE trim pieces that make up the little step-up below the electronics. There's a spin-off access panel to reach the servo box, but I just went ahead and disassembled the whole step-up and rebuilt it properly, when I was pulling wire for my radar, GPS compass, radio, and other farkles from my hardtop. I also mounted the servo box properly so it wasn't banging around down there.

Anyway... as you've discovered, the bucket servos only operate when the motors are running, and when the motors are shut off, the servos move the buckets to their "resting" open position.

Yamaha makes a diagnostic controller that can move the bucket servos even when the motors aren't running. If you're friendly with your dealer's service department, maybe you can convince them to let you borrow it?

Otherwise, I'd try running the motors, moving the buckets into whatever position you want them to stay, then disconnect power to the servos. There might even be a breaker or fuse for the servos that you can easily pull.

Another option is to run the motors, move the buckets, shut off the engines, then open the battery switches. Maybe if you're quick enough, you can catch the buckets before they go back into their resting position. (Don't open the switches when the motors are running.)

When I was last checking the position of my buckets, with the boat on my lift, I just ran the motors with the rinse hose going, and I moved the throttle to see how the buckets reacted.

Question about these servo controlled buckets.

When the boat is in the water and the engines are running and you want to move forward with just a little bit of thrust, can you push the throttle handles part way to the TDE position and the buckets will open just a little? Or is it sort of all or nothing between neutral and TDE position?

Thanks!
