I searched and reviewed this thread... https://jetboaters.net/threads/2016-242-jl-audio-7-7’s-all-around.17123/

7.7” worked on a 2016 AR240. Has anyone put JL M6 7.7’s in a 2018 - 2020 242 Limited S E Series? In this thread above, I don’t like where the midship 7.7” speaker are. They are too low for me.

A lso, looking to put a JL M6 10” sub at the front (in front of anchor locker below the ‘step’) of the boat facing aft. There is a bump out there that may work, although some fiberglass work may be necessary to fla tten out the ‘curve’. Anyone done anything similar or think I could make these locations work with the 7.7” speaker and 10” sub?

I looked at doing the same, the only worrie i had was the locker lid rattling. So i cut some 7.7" insted. They sound good. Gets the sound out the back of the boat (SX240 no wake tower, i am to tall, i hit my head on them) 20180331_150026.jpg20180331_151946.jpg

I am looking to go under the ‘step’. My thinking is there is another fiberglass wall before you get to the anchor locker. Nice job on yours. What’s in the port/starboards bow? 6.5? 7.7? I saw from the thread above the poster was able to put 7.7” in, but with a 1” spacer. That would not bother me. Did you install midship?

6.5 mid front and back in the stock location. Not sure if you need to put a spacer or just trim out the stock hole. I cut 7.7s on my swim deck and added some pods. The only thing i would deff do is add a thick bit of star board and use sma bolts not screws for a sub up front for the beating that part takes.20190418_125019.jpg20170428_121353.jpg

Installer is recommending JL M6 7.7” for rear deck, and cabin rear, and M6 6.5“ for front mids and bow. I really want 7.7” all around.

Has anyone successfully installed JL M6 7.7” by drilling new location for front mids and bow?

Also on 2018 242 LSE, I am considering JL M6 7.7” tower speakers if I can have them between the tower and Bimini so no one will bump their head. Anyone do this? It will be a close fit.

Advance I have a 2017 AR240 with a full JL setup, including 8 M series 7.7s all around getting approx 200 rms each including the rear deck (modified the cushion)....I also have M880s on the tower getting 200 rms each....you need spacers in the bow, and the mid cabin speaker can be mounted low with no spacer and high with a spacer.

My sig has all my equipment.

You can def have your cake and eat it too!!

OP did you ever come to a really on this?? Curious to see the final product, thanks

I've been contemplating a sub below that step for 2 years now. That step has more than enough room behind it for a sub. You can get to it from inside the ski locker fairly easily. The issue is the curve of the fiberglass there. If you don't mind some custom fiberglass fabricating, I'm pretty positive it'll fit.

For sound alignment its a ok place. But for foot traffic you might want to order a few extra grills they will more then likely get broke.

I will be adding two 10" subs this spring. One on port / starboard. I'm cutting a 8.75" hole but mounting the sub to the inside cone facing out and finishing the outside with a 8" sub grill. The small foot area shape under the forward seat should help the sub load up well.. We never remove the small seats so the subs shouldn't get kicked
