Yes it comes with a scotchbright pad to scuff up the surfaceWait, you have to sand the gel coat to add the keel guard?
Got it, so it would be best to lay down tape to the proper width before scuffing.Yes it comes with a scotchbright pad to scuff up the surface
Thats what the instructions state you should doGot it, so it would be best to lay down tape to the proper width before scuffing.
I was told by the dealer that is not color gel!!! That is automotive paint.I just installed a keelguard on my friends boat. I noticed a fine half inch line of sanding and cleaning that I did when installing my the keelguard. How do I fix this ? Do I need a touch up paint ? Thanks.
Best
Amar.

Good to know. A lot more work than I anticipated.@txav8r
According to the instructions that come with the KeelGuard the reason for the scuffing is two part: (a) to provide a rough surface for a more permanent bond, and (b) to remove the "anti-microbial coating" that is on the outer layer of boats. (which deters a proper seal with the 3M adhesive)
