Okay Shasta Lake CA isn't going to fill this year no matter how much rain we get. It's down 115 feet now but WOW we've had about 9" of rain in the past 10 days and the lake has risen 15 feet. That's a whopping 309000 acre feet added to the lake in 10 days.
This won't make much difference to our drought but man that's a lot of water.
All of 2013 I measured just 13" of rain in our back yard. We live just 9 miles from the lake. This year we've had almost 16". But we are still way behind average rainfall. At our house we average something like 40-45" a year.
Even when the lake is this low it is still huge, about 230 miles of shoreline. So we can still boat.
