Hi I just signed up, is anyone planning a trip from Marion or Moultrie through the locks to Charleston soon (Spring)? I've gone through the locks from Moultrie a few times and went as far as a few miles from the 526 bridge. Thinking of going and staying overnight at the Charleston City Marina.

I’m interested as well, but I’ve never made the trip.

It's not a bad trip. Pretty easy (know and stay in channel) very few no wake zones.

I dont have it charted but I'd peon 3hr or so from moultrie across the lake snd down to Charleston. I will say there is a nice ramp we passed on the river not far from locks so could always go up and back down for that experience. Then down to Charleston.

Let me know if you guys make the trip. I live in Charleston and hook up with you when you get here.

Did any of you guys end up making this trip? If so:

  1. What boat ramp did you use?
  2. Where did you stay in Charleston?
  3. Any "must see" areas to visit by boat once you make it to the Charleston area?
