Lake Mead - Wake Surfing Heaven

We got to Lake Mead for the first time ever this October and it was AMAZING! Now I am dying to go back (and also to visit Powell too)! We had one awesome day and one crazy windy day that we sought shelter in a giant cove and surfed in a big triangle while there were honest 1-2+ foot wind blown waves on the main body of the lake.

Bring what you need, because there is nothing there, including cell phone coverage unless you have Verizon.

Didn't see a Yamaha, or another Tige...hell we only saw about 10 fishing boats over a solid 2 days on the water. I know it was off season, but still!

That's awesome! Did you guys trailer your Tige all the way?

We were there for half a day a few weeks back - rented a little i/o from the marina, but it was quite windy and we were severely restricted where they would let us go in the rental...

Friend’s boat, that happens to be very similar to ours. They trailered from LA, which is still a haul. I think it’s a 23 hour tow from STL, so you gotta be committed! We were in Vegas for a work conference, so it was a short commute from there.

I noticed - no wet suits! Was it really that warm?

Lol-So true @swatski!

Regarding the wetsuits, the water was only about 4 degrees colder than LOTO. I think 68-70ish at that time. Air temp was mid 50’s at dawn, but 80ish mid day. So, we enjoyed breakfast on land and a late start. No wet suits the first day, but the wind was crazy the second day and everyone ride with a shorty that day. I wish I had a video on my phone, there were times the spray was like something from a movie set!

68-70 degrees? Yea y'all crazy!! No way I would be in that water without a dry suit, much less a wet suit ....I'm such a wuss when it comes to chilly water

Looks like a great time and wave to ride on! I would love to boat there one day to mark it off the bucket list.
