I've been watching the news about this lake the past couple of days. Wondering if there's anyone who has boated this lake and if they go there regularly? It looks to be relatively close to Lake Tahoe...would that be the new "go-to" Lake if Oroville collapses?
I'm really just curious about this... Especially since this lake has never in its history been over capacity...

Thoughts and prayers to those downriver and all affected by this potentially catastrophic event...

Wasn't that the lake that was 75% drained due to the drought a few years back?

I have not boated there but did intentionally drive by the front gate on an unrelated road trip once just to get a sense of how far it was from my home. It is at least 3 hours from Tahoe (closer to San Francisco then Sacramento). The road I took to get there ran from west to east, most of which was 2 lanes (one in each direction), and had very few straight sections. Not easy to get to at all especially with a boat in tow.

This is one of the lakes that was very low for the past few years because of the drought. We have had so much rain and snow here this season that The media has unofficially declared the drought over, at least here in NCal. its ironic that for the past few years few people were not going to the Reno/Tahoe ski resorts for lack of snow whereas just two weeks ago the roads up to the resort's were closed o the weekend because of whether conditions (more snow than they could clear).

Anyway, there is a lot of coverage here on it and it's almost all bad news, 600k displaced temporarily, stuck in heavy traffic, gas shortages, etc. I believe the plan is to fill the crack/ large hole up with boulders dropped in place with helicopters and dump trucks and seal it with loads of concrete. Everyone is hoping for the best but another set of storms is forecast to start today.
