Looking at spending a week at Lake Wallenpaupack mid August. Just looking for any feedback on the lake and area itself.
Thanks

Mike I've never boated there, but am interested in your feedback after your week there.

Thanks,

See your from Mount Laurel, where do you normally boat ?

i haven't been to Wallenpaupack, only Hopatcong and Lake George with my previous boat. Hopatcong is crowded, but George is really nice except for major holidays.
You guys ever go out on the Delaware river near Philly?
I might take a ride there at the end of July, so if you have a good launch point let me know.
TY.

I have a launch about 2 miles away - Ridley Marina. Been out twice. The river around there messy at times with floating debris. we prefer to take the 45 minute ride south and go out on the upper Chesapeake from North East, MD

I LOVE Wallenpaupack! Usually pretty quiet during the week...a little busier and more traffic on the weekends. Can get a little choppy when the traffic is busy. Gets really nice in the evening when the water gets flat. That's when we do most of our tubing. Lots of nice coves to anchor and swim in. Epply Island is nice to hang out on. It has picnic areas and CLEAN Porta Johns. There are some restrictions on tubing/skiing on the weekend but just about anything goes during the week. Usually 2-3 Fish and Boat vessels making the rounds on weekends keeping the jet skiers in check. Lighthouse Harbor marina is good for fuel...they give a BoatUs discount. Let me know where you're staying and I can give you an idea of where to eat, shop, boat, etc. Some pretty good maps if you Google too!

Thanks for the info - looking to be there week of Aug 15-22

Hey Mike......The two primary places that we boat locally are the Delaware River and the Barnegat Bay at the beach.

Confirmed - we will be staying near the Ledgedale area of the lake. 8/15 - 8/22. Looking forward to checking this lake out

Thanks guys

Was on the Lake yesterday. Moderate chop and lots of traffic, but not the worst I've seen. Actually saw my best speed at WOT...44MPH on the speedo with two on board and half a tank. Ledgedale is a nice marina with a good ramp and courtesy dock. I've had some good fishing just under the bridge opposite the ramp. Hamlin is about 12 minutes away from Ledgedale Marina and has pretty much everything you might need. CVS, KFC/Taco Bell, Chinese take-out, Weiss Food Market, a good Italian Restaurant called "John's" and of course, Dunkin Donuts! I'll actually be up most of if not all of that week so shoot me an email if you want to meet on the lake to say "Hi!".Untitled.jpg Untitled1.jpg IMG_0215 (1).JPG

Thanks for all the good info. Would be nice to meet up and maybe have a cold beverage.

At the lake this week. Out on Sunday and a ton of boats and pwc on the lake, hoping Monday is a little calmer. Any goods spots to just beach or drop anchor and hangout?

We love going to Wallenpaupack and on a couple of times have been based down at Ledgedale. There are lots of little coves to anchor and swim in. We have found the inlet by Irownwood Point campground and marina a good place for beginners to learn how to ski or just generally hang out in. The weekend can get crazy but the weekdays are considerably less crowded. Agree with billtex2000 that the evenings are the best for smooth water if you don't want to get up first thing in the morning.

Just a heads up, I was told that Lighthouse Marina is closed on Wednesdays so if you need gas plan accordingly - maybe billtex knows if that's accurate. Also at Ledgedale, be sure you are centered while using the ramps. I have seen a few people go off the ramp with their trailers.

Hope you have a good time up at the lake. We really enjoy it up there and already planning our week up there for next year.

Thanks Barry, we found that cove yesterday ,anchored and had lunch. Spotted a SX 210 in there as well. What a difference a day makes, lake was super smooth and uncongested

Dude! That might have been me! Had my wife and two sons with me on on Sat., Sunday and Monday. We just got back home tonight. We hang in that cove that runs in along Ledgedale Road mainly. Weekend was busy and the cove was crowded, but it was nice having a crowd around. Everyone was swimming...kids playing. Even had the pooch out for a ride last evening. I saw a blue 230 with a blue bimini running around and in the cove past couple of days. Yesterday we left to cove to go water ski a little and came back. You're boat looks black in your pic Mike? Threw a few waves...now I feel bad we didn't say "Hi!" :( The wall against Lacawac Sanctuary is a good spot too. Wife and I were down by Epply Island today trying to outrun the morning rain. Turned out to be an amazing day! Had two of the eagles circling overhead all afternoon. I think I saw the blue 230 in the cove across from Epply maybe today? I'm not sure about Lighthouse being closed on Wednesday Barry. I gassed up on Saturday and topped off yesterday. They always take good care of you at the gas dock. The kids are courteous and friendly and they give a 10 cent-a-gallon discount for BoatUS members . And BTW...we should really try to hook up next summer! Todd (Jet 16) is in the slip right across from me...I bet he would be game. I know things slow down on the forum over winter, but lets try to make it happen next season. Would be fun to tip a few in the cove with you guys!

Yes sir that was us. We waved as we passed. Yesterday was sweet, short rain shower than blue skies and smooth water. Got in some skiing and teaching my daughters to drive. And agreed it would be nice to meetup. And the boat is black with a grey bimini

Damn, that's gotta be my old eyes! I swore you were blue
Wow, now I'm really sorry we didn't talk. Definitely next time!
