Anyone have any suggestions for our first trip to Lake Whitney?
Yamaha AR240 2013, we like cliffs to jump off and hills to climb, oh and of course smooth water.

Welcome to the forum! I have never been on Whitney, and I am assuming your in Texas. But to make sure, just add your zip code to your profile and it will add you to the member map! That way, we know what lake for sure! Welcome once again!

Lake Whitney is southwest of Dallas, TX
We are from Cypress, Tx just outside of Houston.

@99MVP , yep, I know where Lake Whitney, Tx. is, just never have been on the lake. Just wasn't a reference to which Lake Whitney so I am adding TX to the thread title subject line to help with that, so others reading the recent posts know what the conversation pertains to. And again, glad to have you on the forum, but past this single post, no one will know where your from or what region you may boat in. That is the purpose of the member map and helps to find those to help with issues, or to see who that may have been you passed on the highway or lake, as well as finding members that want to attend group activities. So in your profile, if you add your city, Cypress, or just a zip code if your concerned about security, will benefit you and help us help you! Hopefully, someone that has been there can advise on accommodations, cliffs, and more. I can tell you having grown up in the metroplex (DFW area), that those cliffs are a tad unstable, especially when we have heavy rains. There have been numerous homes fall into the lake or suffer catastrophic damage as the cliff areas crack. There is a huge crack that has been in the news lately that will take a toll on the backyard of a home there, and when that happens, it too shakes the foundation and home to the point it may make it uninhabitable. I offer this info, so you can check into where your going and make sure it is safe there. Be sure to post up your findings and take pics! There are a ton of Yamaha owners in the metroplex and we would love to have your input!

@99MVP , I am here in the Houston area as well, so I just wanted to add my welcome! I have never been up to that lake; I hang around Lake Conroe mostly (with the occasional trip out to Livingston). But certainly glad to have another person from this area join us!

Thinking about heading up to Lake Whitney this Saturday for the day to check the lake out. Any suggestions on places to check out/anchor would be great!

I live on Lake Conroe and iv been to canyon lake, lake Travis, Lake Bridgeport and lake Limestone let us know how you trip goes sorry I cant help you with Lake Whitney

Howdy and welcome! I've boated on Whitney once and it was years ago. I used the Navionics app on my phone to figure out where to go and not. I also kept a close eye on the depth finder. We aren't the daredevil type so we stayed off the cliffs. I'm not real sure if there are those kind of jumping off cliffs on that lake still anyways. Good luck with your trip and let us know what you find out .
