Let's talk WETSOUNDS

We are awaiting delivery of our 2020 195s. From yamaha it comes with 7"conext, fusion head unit with transom remote (assuming main is controlled via conext), and 4 wetsounds cabin speakers (assume 5 1/4, but hoping for 6.5). I am also assuming they is no amp installed from factory as it's not listed on site as it is with 212x or 242x. Of course all of this is subjective until I actually take delivery. What I do know is Fusion had unit with transom remote, 4 wetsounds cabin speakers, and no tower speakers (even though shown in site pics).

So this brings us to the discussion portion. We like sound, and we like it loud (our current glastron runs 1400 watts with no tower). We can always turn it down, but can't turn it up without power to do so. So here's what I'm thinking, and want yalls input on these options for both sound quality, volume, and bang for the buck. We don't want to drive party cove Dj status, but don't want the Bluetooth speaker status either. This will be all wetsounds equipment

#1 setup
-WS 420 eq
-HTX6 Amp
-Factory cabin speakers ran 4ohm to 4 channels of htx6 (about 100 watts each)
-2 Rev10 tower speakers bridged to remaining 2 channels of HTX6
-Stealth 10 amplified soundbar between the Rev10s
$2550 roughly

#2 setup
-WS 420 eq
-HTX6 Amp
-Factory cabin speakers ran 4ohm to 4 channels of htx6 (about 100 watts each)
-HTX6 Amp pushing tower setup
-2 Rev10 tower speakers
-Rev410 in center of tower
-This leaves me channels for sub
$3750 roughly

Sub setup
-Revo 12
-Custom ported enclosure built, and installed inside passenger dash compartment.
-Powered by either is own dedicated amp, or off above channels.

I like Wetsounds too. I have 8s on my tower (probably should have gone with 10s) but 10s take up a lot of space. Just saying...not sure how big (and tall) the tower is on the 195. I added a second sub (not enclosed) with it's own amp and really helped. I think each sub should have it's own amp IMO.

Question I have is where do you want the sound? If it's all about blasting out the back, then go with set up [HASH=108]#1,[/HASH] but you'll be lacking sound in the bow. I never did a sound bar and just replaced my cabin speakers with the wetsounds 650's and added an additional pair in the main cabin bringing my total to 6 plus rev 10's and a sub. It sounds great in the cabin and back, but still not enough sound up front while underway. I will eventually go back and add a sound bar, but surf mods are next.

I went with the 410 and 2 rev 10s on a 212x hooked up to a syn dx6. I am running 3 batteries just for stereo. 2 10w3v3s on a jl 1000.1v2. It takes up alot of real estate but it gets compliments everywhere i go.

That's a great question. Primary loudness would be out back when at the sand bar. However, inside while underway is important as well. I'll go with a middle ground and say both are equally important. I'm leaning to #1 myself as well.

Do you know if it voids warranty by cutting in speakers where they are not factory installed? This is our first brand new boat with warranty so voiding it is not an option. My previous boats I've always cut them in, but scared for this one being new.

I personally don't think 100 watts/channel is enough for the Rev 8's or Rev 10's, if you want to be able to crank it up so those in the water behind you (on a board or tube underway) can hear it at decent levels. I think you're looking at multiple amps for whichever of the speaker configurations you go with.

Consider an HTX 6 with 4 channels bridged for the Rev 10''s That's 300 watts per Rev 10, and that's what they are rated at, I believe.

Then you can use the extra two channels for a Stealth 10 core (unpowered) sound bar. 100 watts/channel will power the sound bar very loud. If you go with the 410, you're going to want more than 100/channel. So you might be looking at yet another amp if you go that direction.

I can tell you from experience, and from discussions with Wet Sounds, that the Rev 8's and 10's.suck power. I'm certain the 410's do too. I'm running an HTX 4 bridged, to power two Rev 8's, and two channels of an HTX 6 to power the Stealth 10 sound bar. Really pleased with the results.

That's awesome to hear. I was thinking bridging the last two channels on the HTX6 to power the Rev10s, but was also thinking that might not be enough still

So, we may be talking past each other here. In order to run EACH Rev 10, I'm taking about bridging two channels of an HTX 6. To run a pair, you're bridging a total of 4 channels. I guess there's nothing preventing you from running each Rev 10 on two bridged channels of two separate amps, but I'm not sure if that's what you're saying.

Anyway, I suggest you allow for 300 RMS watts for EACH Rev 10 in your amp planning, and you should be ok. And then 100 watts per speaker for the interior/cabin speakers, and 100 watts per channel for the two channel unpowered sound bar, and 300 watts per sub, and the sound level onboard should be approaching (but probably not quite reaching) the pain threshold.

Also, I'm not sure what the battery setup is on the new 195S, but at a minimum, you'll need a single dedicated substantial house battery.

Yeah I totally screwed that up. I was thinking one 6 channel amp pushing 4 cabin speakers solo. Leaving two channels left. Bridge those to the rev10s, but that would put them at 1ohm and that's probably not stable. Two amps make better sense, and gives room to add subs. The sound bar would be the amplified version not the unamplified version. So don't need a amp for that. I am however wondering if I even need the sound bar at all. A buddy of mine runs 2 rev10s on his tower, and it's plenty.
Definitely adding a second battery for sure if it's a single setup from factory

I looked at that amp as well. I was trying to get by with just one amp, but it looks like that's not gonna be possible

I run 3 amps, 1 for the subs, 1 for the towers, and one for the interiors

On my previous boat that j just sold a couple of weeks ago, I had (2) SD2 amps and one SD6 for a total of about 3600 watts. One SD2 was on the 4 REV 10's, one SD2 mono to a XXXV2 sub and the SD6 took care of the cabin speakers. If you are running any of the REV series speaker, I'd consider getting a dedicated amp for the tower. If you go with the threesome (2 REV 10s and a REV 410), the SDX6 would be the ultimate closely followed by @Meetball s amp the Syn dx6. If you are running ANY REV speakers....drop the idea of a soundbar. You won't need it or probably even hear it for that matter.

Sounds from your original post you don't really need that much though. I think unless you are trying to be "that guy" a pair of REV 10s will be more than enough. That much tower and cabin is going to take a pretty decent sub set up to keep up. BTW....what color is your new boat?

Yeah I'm thinking this same exact thing. The rev 10s are probably plenty. I'll stick to the 2 amps so I can add subs in the future. I'll have to get the actual boat before that decision on size and where to put them.

The new 195S only comes in gray and white combo. Really wish I could get black, but the gray is gorgeous. Here's a stock Pic.
