It probably would not have helped this boat.

I like the visual aspect. Especially from the aft. I use “my lightning tracker” from the App Store. I have been 100% pleased with its accuracy. Once I had lightning strike in neighboring yard. It was detected immediately afterward. I can set the range of detection from 0- 199 miles. I set it for 20 miles, the length of the lake I boat in is 16+ miles.

I agree...this is cool new technology. I sent it onto our HOA as they have a unit that could be mounted at a pool. Pretty inexpensive overall. Would be good for Bimini trips.....but also perhaps frightening....I'm sure on our first trip the damn thing would have been RED RED RED RED at one point. And without radar or cell signals....which way do you run?

@Robconn which detector do you use?

I am currently using the lightning app. It is on my tablet I use with navionics. I can toggle back and forth to each app. In addition, I run my anchor app in the background while stationary at coves. Would be great for anything outdoors.

Maybe it is just me and where I live but I just assume lightning with every storm.

I just talked to this company and they have amazing support. While you can't buy the remote mount model off of their site yet, I was able to order one through their team and hope to have it here next week. I'll do a writeup and installation video of it once it gets here. Love the idea of having this on the boat in general to keep me aware. Also really like the idea that you can mount multiple indicators around the boat... seems like it would be good to have one on the dash and one off the swim deck.
