Hi All,
Im new here and I already have questions LOL. I just purchased a new AR240, im trying to do some upgrades, so any ideas and recomendations? im looking to get a better sound system, underwater lights and I will consider any other recommendations. Thank you very much.

Budget?

These are not exciting, but I highly recommend them:

Extra bilge pump and bilge float + Alarm.

Ez locks to keep the clean out plugs from popping out.

These are cheap insurance!!

SeaDek (@JetBoatPilot runs a group buy usually in September)
Ridesteady (GPS cruise control by @Ridesteady /Hydrophase)
Trim Tabs (Lectrotabs)
Fins (I run with Cobras; there are several models to choose from, from two vendors: @Cobra Jet Steering LLC and @JetBoatPilot)
Bow stop (Stoltz)
and there is so much more... lol.

Can you provide more context on how you are planing to use the boat ? For example is this going to be a set for water sports or is going to be a Go To Bimini boat ?

Given the budget is limited; you will have to prioritize

Mostly fun, wake boarding and hanging around in the sand bars.

then I do not think 2k will be enough. Although, we do not any watersports, so my advise in that area will counterproductive ( not that in any other area is any better, but definitely not in water sports).

FYI, you don't need EZ locks on your plugs, they wont pop out.

Are you planning on doing the stereo yourself?
There are many, many good threads on sound system upgrades here, and sky is the limit!
Best results are consistently reported with JL components, but those can be pretty pricey.

An example of a minimal budget equipment upgrade (with huge upgrade in quality) would be to replace the OEM speakers (worthless white things) and add an amp. Many here use Polk DB651s as a direct replacement, super inexpensive option - powered by something like the Clarion XC1410 (which is class D and works great with 4 DBs).

Oh, Yeah, sorry.. New Plugs don't need EZ Locks anymore...more money to spend on other mods!!!!

Yes, I will do the work myself. Thanks, I will get JL sets, based on the threads im reading here JL is really good like you said.

Upgrades in order of priority
  1. Stoltz bow roller for your trailer (stock one will cause scratches
  2. Ribbon delete if you're boating at any sort of altitude
  3. Hydrophase Ridesteady
  4. Research steering upgrades (I don't have any, and I'm not sure I will...)
  5. Stereo
  6. More stereo
  7. Wakesurf board
  8. Transom ballast bag

If you're remotely considering adding Thrust Vectors or Lateral Thrusters be advised that they are at the lowest price of the year right now (35% off) for forum members only. We do this once a year, typically in August. Enjoy your new toy!

Start with the stereo, all that other stuff is nice but imho having tunes is a must, unless your fishing and need quite...4 speakers ain't gonna cut it and JL ain't cheap....

Glad you increased that budget,lol...

My vote is 6 Jl MX650s, and some sort of sub 10/12 depending on your bass needs (enclosure/ free air), and if you can squeeze it tower speakers are great for projection when your posted up.

I also think trailer guides are really handy....I DO NOT have any steering mods, but having those guides makes retrieving the boat a piece of cake.

The bow roller is nice...and some lighting, and some large fenders, box anchor, and docking/anchor lines.

I ended up adding some LEDs to my tower, a high pressure shower, and battery tender among others.

As others have chimed in your budget is the only constrait... we LOVE helping others spend their money.

There is so much to do....it usually evolves over time so just prioritize...
