Hello everyone,

So I came across a boat for sale. It is a 2004 sea doo 200 speedster. Has 60 hours. The guy recently added a garmin GPS and upgraded the radio. It’s been outside and needs some tlc but nothing major. Engines are running, and it has two engines total 310 hp. Trailer is included. I would need to buy a bimini top and cover. He is willing to sell it to me for 9k. I would like to take this boat on trips to the Bahamas.

I guess my question is if anyone can give me some advice on what to look for. It would be my first boat? Also has anyone had this boat and can give me their 2 cents? Does this boat have issues that people have experienced?

Thank you in advance

Engines are dam near bulletproof, so no worries there. It's still a first gen 4-tec so I'd have a compression test done and check the coolant for combustion gases. That's an old boat to only have 60 hours, lack of use is not good.

The 04's used plastic jet pumps that like to get out of round. I don't know if that's specific to a given scenario (salt water/wet slip/lack of use), so it might not be an issue for you. In 05 or 06 they switched to the metal pumps without issue.

She'll make it to Bimini, but she'll kick your ass doing it. That hull isn't designed for big water at all. The Challengers were a considerably smoother (and dryer) ride.

Seems priced high to me. You mention lots of sitting and outside - are the pics recent? Is it going to need upholstery work? Sounds like lots of mildew and who knows what that's hiding. Sea trialed yet? My opinion - if you're looking for a Bahamas boat, you need to keep looking. Speedsters are awesome flying around the lake, maybe a river run or 2, but that's about it.

Great in site. He did send me more pictures through text. Here they are

So I’m gathering this isn’t a very dry boat?
